Great hike.

Started on the hike/bike loop around Bee Tree, somehow ended up on the hike only trail (they criss cross alot), and ended up back on the bike only trail. Cut across large parking lot and continued to the island. Looped and zig-zagged across the island trails, cut around shoreline. Great hike all around.

Good hike for beginners

For beginning hikers or families with young children, this is a good hiking park. The main hiking trail is a 1.2 mile loop that repeatedly criss-crosses a longer bike trail. The bike trail is an 8 mile round trip, according to the last sign post at the exit trail head. There appears to have been some improvements to the trail since I last hiked here. There are numerous sign-posts throughout the trail, clearly marking which trails are for hiking and which are for biking. There are also numerous benches as well where you can stop and rest. Most of the trail is very level and passes through a heavily wooded forest. The humidity was very high and there was very little breeze until we emerged next to the lake. Apart from the loop, there is a trail that runs along the lake, and another trail that takes you around a small island, which is connected to the mainland by a bridge. By combining all these trails, your hike can get a little distance to it.

It had recently rained but the soil was sandy and didn't stick to our shoes. The two creek crossing were a little tricky because or the high water, but we made it without mishap. There is a nice pedestrian bridge over to an island in the lake.
