A maze of trails

We concentrated today's visit on the Mud Creek Loop in the nothern part of the park. What we thought would be a relatively simple loop turned into a perplexing transect of that appendage. Though the official park map shows a few sets of relatively simple trails it also prints in small print a large number of minor trails. But even those additions don't cover all of the possibilities that exist.

We found our way back easily enough and roughly covered the area we intended to cover, but we ended up covering some ground that we otherwise did not intend due to making a wrong choice here and there with regard to the "official" route. For many hikers and mounatin bikers that's not an issue. For someone who was trying to map "the" trail, it's a bit more frustrating.

Some other hikers have posted here about the abundance of deer. That is no joke. We lost count of the deer spotted on the trail but it must have been more than two dozen.

Great walk the blue trail is the best. Plenty of deer,bit, also plenty of people even at 6am. This was well worth the time.

My favorite park within the city

I live next to the park and hike here often. Its the best park inside the city and has numorius trails. I can go for a 30 minute stroll or a 3 hour hike. I would almost reccomend it to tourists but then I would my solitude wouldn't I?

this is a very nice trail run with a number of mountain bike trails through the hill country foothills right inside San Antonio. It reminds me of Memorial Park in Houston because it is a great slice of natural habitat inside the city with a bonus - white tail are prolific here. The number of bike trails give enough variety that I can keep coming back and enjoy the trails.
