Best Falls of the day

Coppertone and I were happy enough with our first two hikes of the day to Clover Falls and Hemlock Falls.  But this was the best thus far.  We started our journey at the trailhead just opposite the Lake in the Woods campground sign.

As we have come to expect, the trail was moist to muddy.  Plenty of mushrooms and moss covered many of the tree trunks.  Throughout the entirety of our hike we did not see another person.

As the trail nears Yakso Falls it hugs a steep rock face.  Unlike the falls we encountered earlier today we were able to get to the base of Yakso Falls relatively easily.  The crashing waters make a thunderous noise.  The spray in the air lowers the temperature a great deal.  It was not too hot on this day, but we enjoyed nature's air conditioning nevertheless.

We doubled back to our trailhead refreshed and covered a bit less than 2 miles.
