Hike along Lake Lavon

Comments: Woke up bright and early to beat the heat this fine Sunday. Struck out on this trail on my own(had someone pick me up at the end of the trail). A very quiet trail this particular day...only ran into one other couple who were on horseback. Great views of Lake Lavon...a mild, mostly flat trail, but it's a hard trail in terms of that it's hard on your feet. The trail runs along 3 separate parks along the west bank of the lake...these are also your only good places to stop for a break, too...not a lot of good stopping places. BUT...if you can whip out the first 5 miles from Brockdale to Collin Park, you can stop at Collin and walk to some picnic benches nearby to rest, eat, watch the boats in the marina...and build up enough strength the finish the last part of the trail. I recommend this trail and plan to do it again in the near future...really felt like I was out in the country, even though I was mere minutes from the big city.
