Steep
Some trail segments at Wildcat Canyon are among the steepest we've encountered in the Bay Area.

Comments:

Penny and I were not expecting too much when hiking at Wildcat Canyon.  We figured it was just an extension of Redwood and Tilden Regional Parks and was probably its poor cousin.

Instead we were treated to breathtaking views of Richmond, San Francisco, SF Bay and San Pablo Bay.  Breathtaking because the views were fantastic and also because some of the highpoints along the trail were steep enough to induce some huffing and puffing on our part.  Some segments were so steep we jokingly referred to them as dirt licking ascents because it felt like you had to lean so far forward that you could practically taste the dirt on the trail.  An exaggeration, but just a way to laugh off the realization that we are not in as good of shape as we should be!
