Park Longhorn
The majority of the cattle are comfortable being around people but it is best to leave them alone -- especially when calves are present.

Route     Burkett park > Burkett > service road (ENE) > service road (W) > Turkey Creek (S) > Armadillo (W) > West Potts Creek > Roller Coaster > Lankey Lackey > service road (E) > Winding Snake > Burkett park     6.4 miles

Temps in the lower 60's, partly cloudy, some wind.

A fitness hike with friends.  Lots of cattle out so we stayed on the road longer than originally planned to avoid them.  We had no issues with the cattle - we just didn't want to inadvertantly cause them any stress.

Trails were in good condition but the park has posted a notice that from now until the end of February 2016, they will perform trail maintenance so you have to call the park prior to hiking to ensure the trail(s) will be open.

NOTES

Water, shade, info kiosk and dry toilets available at Burkett park.
