Out    Burkett park > Burkett Trail > service roads (ENE) > Cougar Overlook     3.0 miles

Return  Cougar Overlook > service roads (WSW) > cattle trails > Burkett park  2.7 miles

Temps in the mid-70's, sunny and windy.

Fitness hike with friends.  After a few days of welcome rains, decided to do a relatively simple hike on the service roads due to potentially wet and muddy trails.  Saw quite a few birds and the yellow flowers have started to appear (photo attached).

Saw the first horned toad of the year as well!

NOTES

Water, shade, info kiosk and dry toilets available at Burkett Park. NO OTHER WATER IS AVAILABLE ON THIS ROUTE.

Info kiosk and shade available at Cougar Overlook.
