BIG BIRDS!
A flight of three C-130's flew over as I was finishing my hike. Most interesting thing to photograph today!

Leg 1 -  Playground parking area > Horny Toad > Tasajilla Flats > Nature Trail > Lanky Lackey > WS to LL Connector > Burkett Park   3.9 miles

Leg 2 -  Burkett Park > Winding Snake > Chaparral > Red Dam Loop > Chaparral > Playground parking area    3.6 miles

Leg 3 -  Playground parking area > Roadrunner Loop > Playground parking area  3.3 miles

Temps started at 33, ended at 60.  Sunny with a light Westerly breeze 1-5mph.

Very pleasant hike along dry and easy to traverse trails.  Picked up lots of trash but saw very few animals or birds.  Only animals I saw were about 10 white tail deer.  One raptor was spotted as was one Turkey Vulture.

There are patches of grass beginning to grow in the burned areas but the park still looks rough from Winter as well as the prescribed burn in December.  Spring will be here soon so the park should improve.

NOTES

Water, shade, info kiosk, toilets and a bicycle repair station available at Playground parking area.

Water, shade, info kiosk and dry toilets available at Burkett Park.

Water and shade available around Roadrunner Loop as well as three spearate toilets and info kiosks.
