A nice outing in the woods in a historical area

Mission Tejas
Mission Tejas, the first Spanish mission in the province of Texas, was established in 1690. This is a replica of the original mission. Unlike the adobe missions of the San Antonio and South Texas region, this mission was constructed of logs.

Comments: This is a lightly used park, perhaps due to its location away from population centers. Much of the trail is level, but there are some challenging grades around a couple of creek crossings. I did not hike all the trails, but the route I took circled a small pond, and passed by a restored log cabin, the foundation for an old fire tower, and a bird blind. The entire length of the trail is in the forest. We saw no other hikers and only a couple of sites at the campground were occupied.
