It was the first truly cool day of fall, and there were plenty of people in the park. Although we arrived early, people were already scurrying about. There was a large scout troop divided into smaller groups and they were wandering everywhere on some type of scavenger hunt. Once we got away from the trailhead, the number of people we met reduced considerably. Near the east end of the trail, a couple of bike riders came barreling down a hill and around a curve and my wife and I had to jump off the trail quickly. One of the things I like about this trail is that it skirts several campgrounds. On this early, cool morning, we enjoyed picking up the smell of camp fires and bacon. We've hiked this trail before when it was not nearly as busy. I hope to return in another month or so when the leaves start turning.
