Comments:

I took the trailhead off hwy 174 across from the main park to a picnic area about a third of the way of the whole length.  The trailhead has parking, a unisex bathroom, and info map board.   This trail is equestrian mainly but seldom used, its ideal for back country hiking for wildlife watchers along the Brazos River/upper Lake Whitney valley,  It  has a few small wet weather creeks and some trees.   Right before the bluff climb is a part of camp nearby where trail crosses thru, (there is a nice picnic area by lake on the left and up a road on the right is a building, maybe to house boats, rec. toys?),    The trail crosses over road then quickly inclines steeply up a bluff w/ an overlook of Lake Whitney.   There are some houses on bluffs nearby but not spoiling the view.  The trail continues along west side of Lake down to another park called Plowman Creek it is approx. 12 miles in length and is seldom used for hiking, lots of solitude here.
