Started the Yellow Trail from Tadra Point, at 1600 hours, with my 19 year old son and 13 year old daughter. Very hot, about 100 degrees, but manageable. The trail was much more enjoyable after 1900 as the setting sun allowed for more shade. One thing to know about this trail is that it is very sandy. It’s like walking on the beach; sounds nice, but it is much more difficult than a firm packed trail. The sand is what caused the 2.5 difficulty rating. Water sources are questionable at best. You need a filter and some sort of water treatment tablets; at least that’s my opinion. Carried 1.5 liters of water each; we needed a minimum of 3 liters. Don’t get caught without adequate water or at least a way to filter your own. Even with the heat and sandy trail conditions we had a good day; of course it’s really hard to have a bad day outdoors with the kids. Finished the hike just after dark; 2100 hours.
