I didn't have high expectations for this hike, but the scenery on this trail was incredible, especially on the western side of the upper loop.  Numerous overviews of the surrounding canyons and eroded rock formations.  I'm not one to hike the same trail more than once, but I would definitely do this one again!

There are numerous individual Kodel trails that comprise a network of routes.  On my hike, I hiked into the Colorado National Monument boundary and attempted to do a loop.  On the map on my app, it looks easy, but in reality it wasn't.  The part of the loop that I did not complete involved a difficult Class 2 or easy Class 3 climb out of a canyon that had a lot of loose rock, so it was dangerous.  I decided to turn back around, which was smart because out of curiosity I hiked the other part of the loop to the point of where I turned around earlier so I could see upfront what I skipped.  Yes, it was loose and would have been difficult.  Always remember, "the map is not the territory!"

I hiked a loop of verious interconnecting trails in and around the Devil's Canyon Area.  Lots of interesting things to see along the way.
