Chalk Ridge Falls Park [Hiking] - 2/23/2008  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 3stars Solitude: 2stars
Distance: 3.00 Miles Duration: 4 minutes

We had beautiful weather to hike in this park.  There were lots of people at the beginning but it really thinned out as we got further into the park.  We spent most of our hike along the perimeter of the park, staying almost exclusively along the fence line.

At one point we needed to cross the river and just took our shoes off and waded across.  The water was wonderful - not cold at all.  We ended by coming back down the streambed and were able to see all of the springs that come from the caves and sides of the ravine.  A very enjoyable hike.

Great for biking too!
Georgetown - San Gabriel Trail [Hiking] - 2/3/2008  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 3stars Solitude: 1star
Distance: 12.00 Miles Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes

OK - so we biked it this time but we have walked it plenty of other times!  This is a great trail for families.  We can take our kids out and do any section of it and make it as long or as short as we want it to be.

I have walked it from the Overlook Park all the way to San Gabriel and back and biked it as well.  There are always plenty of walkers and bikers and there are plenty of places to stop along the way.  I think this rivals the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike trail!!

Section from Russell Park to Jim Hogg Park
Good Water Trail [Hiking] - 3/5/2005  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 3stars Solitude: 4stars
Distance: 4.00 Miles Duration: 2 hours, 30 minutes
This is a great section of trail along the Good Water Trail around Lake Georgetown. The trail is well defined and easy to follow but you still feel the solitude. You get only occasional glimpses of the lake though but that also cuts down on the noise you hear from boaters. There is one area where you are pretty near a subdivision but you might not even notice if you don't look up at the right time.
