Possible to backpach a short distance in to some primitive campsites, although there is a picnic table at each site.
A good way to initiate the kids to backpacking.
The park has a nice large sandy beach, canoes and fishing. Thanks to Dorba there are many miles to hike here, but we chose the Elm fork trail that connects to the greenbelt. It is a new trail and more of a plowed path. Sandy in places, and horse traffic, but easy

Saw a copperhead in the water. new trail north of the nature center takes you across the river and into the area south of the Eagle Mountain lake dam. Nice easy trail. Kids enjoyed it. Take a trash bag.

this park had alot to offer. my 3.5 and 5.5 year old sons hiked with us and kept up very well, despite rocky trails. mostly shaded and sometimes close to lake. extra bonuses included canoe trip and rock climbing area, there were plently of discoveries. The park is pretty clean too.

nice family outing. Saw huge group of buzzards? circling, 50 - 60 estimation... need to get over there and do a clean up program though on the banks
