Animal country!
South Llano River State Park - 8/17/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 3point5stars Solitude: 3point5stars
Distance: 3.00 Miles Duration: N/A
This is a great park. When I arrived I saw tons of deer just walking in the middle of the road. I stayed at the walk-in campsite. When I got to my campsite there were a lot of animals. I saw tons of rabbits hoping around and three road runners. Later in the night I saw a lot of animals. When I had a campfire going a racoon came very close. The racoon stayed at this spot for a while, it looked like it was eating. Then, the next day, I went to the trail; the overlook trail. Well actually, the entire trail is an overlook, but there is a site designated as the overlook. Most of the trail is uphill, and that made me tired. On the way up I noticed a lot of little rabbits hopping around. Then I saw a huge rabbit along with two little rabbits, then a road runner. When you get to the overlook you can see forever. The hills are beautiful and the sunset was spectacular. On the way down it got very dark. I spotted two little black things. I figured out they were skunks. I tried to take a picture of them but it was too dark. The next morning when I got my tube to go down the river I saw a bunch of turkeys walking in the road. Then when I was coming back, there were deer and turkeys eating grass and still in the middle of the road. I thought to myself now this is animal country.
A long And Cool Hike
Ann and Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail - 7/24/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 1star
Distance: 5.00 Miles Duration: N/A
The trail at Town Lake is pretty long. When you are hiking or biking you have to be careful not to run into anyone, because there are lots of people on the trail. The bikers are the ones who should be more careful. There are some big uphills and downhills, plus there are some sharp turns. Overall, it is very nice. I stopped at the concert that was going on yesterday. That was pretty cool because there were a lot of people there. The breeze felt great. Then I started around the lake. We went under the Mopac bridge and it was very dark. I walked around most of the trail. I thought, what a long and cool hike.
A Beautiful hike
Blunn Creek Preserve - 7/23/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 1point5stars Solitude: 1star
Distance: 1.50 Miles Duration: N/A
This hike to me was pretty easy.I thought the hike was cool. Along the way I saw a rabbit. You will cross two creeks. You have to jump across the second creek. The first creek you just have to walk across, big rocks in the creek. The second you should be careful. I jumped across the creek and at the other side I slipped. It looked dry, but it was slippery. A little later you come to a fork in the road. The sign says v.OVERLOOK FOR VOLCANIC OVERLOOK to the right. Oltorf to the left. I went to the volcanic overlook. You can tell you are very close by red ash on the ground. When you get to the overlook, you have a great view. You can see the trees below you. You have a good view of St. Edwards. Then when I was back at my house I said, what a beautiful hike.
