Great Swimming, Boring Walking Path
Red Bud Isle [Hiking] - 7/15/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: halfstar Solitude: 2stars
Distance: 0.50 Mile Duration: N/A
Very well maintained trail that roughly follows the outside periphery of Red Bud Isle. There are at least 15 trails that branch off the main "circle" These small trails are all straight shots to the water's edge.
Great Views and Some Rocky Walking
Mount Bonnell [Hiking] - 7/15/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 4stars
Distance: 0.50 Mile Duration: N/A
Take the steps to the top of the mountain and then start exploring. There are a few well-worn trails, which are all very short, but offer different views of downtown and Lake Austin.
Nice Hike
Turkey Creek Trail [Hiking] - 7/14/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 1point5stars Solitude: 5stars
Distance: 3.00 Miles Duration: N/A
I hiked this trail at 2:30pm with the sun directly above me. I couldn't believe how great the tree cover was on this trail. The creek is quite nice and the trail was well-maintained. The trailhead is well marked and the park provides clean-up baggies should Spot want to come along.
Not too bad for Dallas County
Cedar Hill State Park [Hiking] - 4/22/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 1star
Distance: 5.00 Miles Duration: N/A
Nice hike with some good views of the lake. Not too much real terrain, but what should I have expected from Dallas County?
Very Peaceful Waterfalls, Good Lake Walk
Commons Ford - Waterfall Trail [Hiking] - 4/15/2003  [View Log Page]
Rating: N/A Difficulty: 2point5stars Solitude: 4stars
Distance: 3.00 Miles Duration: N/A
When we arrived we had a bit of a hard time finding the actual Waterfall trail, so we hike down by the lake for about 3/4 mile. We then found the Waterfall trail on the loop back to the car and ascended through great tree cover. This would be a great hike during the late summer, as wading in the pool by the watefall would provide a great midway point before descending.
