I introduced my wife to some elevation change hiking to help her build some strength and endurance. It was also a good chance for her to get used to using trekking poles. The trail was tough, but the views from the top were very nice. We got started late (>2pm) so we were unable to finish our loop because the sun was setting, but we were tired and wee satisfied because we got a good workout in. There are numerous formal and informal multi-use trails running all over the place as well as dirt utility roads, so plot your course and take a good map. Also, expect to go through a lot of water, so be prepared.
