My wife and I did an urban, endurance thru-hike starting in Coronado and ending in Imperial Beach. Most of our route was along the Bayshore Bikeway. The route was flat, but I rated the difficulty of our walk at 3.5 due to the distance we walked. We were able to pass by the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, the Navy Seals Training Center, a wildlife refuge and the Salt Factory at the end of the South Bay. This trail is used mostly by bicycles, but there are some distance runners and walkers, too.
