About 2 miles up, there is an lookout point that provides some incredible views. There is some confusion as this is sometimes referred to as Inspiration Point, but the "real" Inspiration Point is about another 1.75 miles further up. (Photo by Blaze)

We started our hike up to Inspiration Point at the Up & Over trailhead.  Instead of going "over", however, you branch right onto FS 789.  The trail was very well-marked, but there were about 10 blowdowns (deadfall) that we had to get around on the way up.  About 2 miles up, you come to a rocky outcrop that has some incredible views - my favorite spot thus far in the Creede area - but that is not the "real" Inspiration Point.  You have to go another 1.75 miles up to the top of a rocky cliff to get to the final spot.  This also has some beautiful overviews of the area.  We decided to take FS 789 back as the dirt road had far fewer blowdowns and it also led us by an abandoned mine.  Several scree fields made some sections tricky to navigate.
