The Little Cypress Creek Preserve is a piece of land in Cypress, TX (northwest of Houston). It is located along a part of Cypress Creek where it is just a small creek, hence the name "Little" Cypress Creek. As Cypress Creek moves into Northwest Houston, it pours into Cypress Creek (also know as "Big" Cypress Creek), which is wider and moves more water.
The Little Cypress Creek Preserve is one of several properties in Houston managed by the Bayou Land Conservancy. In laymen terms, these are little oases of land set aside for the birds as a habitat and refuge from all of the urban sprawl. They open the land on weekends to that other animal - homo sapiens - with hiking allowed on Saturdays and biking on Sundays.
The property isn't terribly scenic. It's not meant to be. Just a path cut through the woods with some rest benches here and there. There are direction signs to guide the way and numbered exhibits along the nature trail, but there aren't any printed brochures at the trailhead. Apparently the tour is online and can be access by a smartphone, but I did not try it because I do not have one.
In summary, Little Cypress Creek Preserve is a place to walk through the woods and is ideal if you are a birdwatcher.
