Looking north toward Fort Cronkhite and Rodeo Beach. The small building on the spit of land to the left is the remains of a spotlight building used to illuminate ships that were to be fired upon.

Comments:

Coppertone and I decided to knock out another lighthouse along the Pacific with a visit just north of SF. Point Bonita Lighthouse is a short from the nearest parking area, but we had to park at the more distant lot. We were there to walk, so no problem.

The lighthouse trail descends from the last parking area and passes over a few bridges and a tunnel before reaching the lighthouse. Maybe close to the city, but not easy to get to.

After walking around the lighthouse structure we also hiked some other trails near the point that passed by Battery Mendell and down to Rodeo Beach. We spent quite a bit of time watching the waves at the beach.
