Long, Exhausting Hike

The REAL Falls
The real falls are on the other side of the river, further down the trail, and not very glamorous. It is marked by the 2 statues of Native American Indians hunting on horses.

Comments:

I did a long hike from Lucy Park past The Falls and all the way out to Lake Wichita Park, and then back to Lucy Park through the streets in order to get back to my car.  My GPS mileage read 20.45 miles, but the track file only recorded 20.0 miles.  The temperature was a brutal 105 degrees F and I almost passed out the last few miles from heat exhaustion.  Most of the distance is walking along a concrete biking trail and it reminded me a lot of the long bayou hikes I do in Houston (boring).

It's about 13.6 miles from Lucy Park to Lake Wichita Park.  Rather than returning the same way, I took a shortcut (6.4 miles) through the streets of Wichita Falls to get back to my car.  I'm glad I did because I don't think I could have done another 13.6 miles back in those heat conditions.
